Shipping Industry Flag State Performance Table 2022/2023

This 2022/2023 edition was withdrawn in January 2024 and replaced by the 2023/2024 edition. The purpose of this Flag State Performance Table is to encourage shipowners and operators to examine whether a flag State has sufficient substance before using it and to encourage shipowners and operators to put pressure on their flag Administrations to affect any improvements that might be necessary, especially in relation to safety of life at sea, the protection of the marine environment, and the provision of decent working and living conditions for seafarers.

The ICS Diversity and Inclusion Toolkit for Shipping has been developed to create awareness and inspire change in the strategies, policies and practices that will enable the maritime industry to meet the needs of the diverse seafarer community. It provides descriptions and definitions; provides ways to assess the current needs of diverse communities and identify gaps in services, policies and practice; and makes suggestions on how to fill these gaps.

New advisory committee launched to address major maritime issues impacting Filipino seafarers

Shipping industry leaders form part of newly created advisory board, the ‘International Advisory Committee on Global Maritime Affairs’ (IACGMA). Creation of advisory board initially recommended by His Excellency Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr during a meeting with shipping industry leaders on 13 December 2022 in Brussels. The IACGMA will contribute to the global competitiveness of Filipino seafarers and prepare them for a maritime just transition.
