Agreement on Minimum Wage for Seafarers Announced

Geneva – 19-20 November 2018: The social partners, namely the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) and the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), convened in Geneva at the Joint Maritime Commission Subcommittee on Seafarers Wages to review the ILO Minimum Wage for an Able Seafarer (AB) provided for in Code B of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (as amended).

Major upgrade to ISF Watchkeeper simplifies work hour record keeping

The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and IT Energy have announced the launch of the latest release of their acclaimed ISF Watchkeeper software – ISF Watchkeeper 3.5 – developed for maintaining records of individual seafarers’ work hour records, as required by IMO and ILO regulations, and to help prevent crew fatigue and to avoid issues with Port State Control.

Guidance on Eliminating Shipboard Harassment and Bullying

All seafarers have the right to work without suffering harassment and bullying. ICS and ITF have together produced this guidance for shipping companies, seafarers and seafarers’ organisations and other parties on what they can do to eliminate harassment and bullying.

ICS Elects Esben Poulsson as new Chairman

Meeting in Tokyo today (2 June), the Annual General Meeting of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) elected a new Chairman, Mr Esben Poulsson (Singapore). ICS is the principal international trade association for shipowners, with a membership comprising national shipowners’ associations from 37 countries representing all sectors and trades and over 80% of the world merchant fleet.
